Shaving is a fairly simple task and very necessary for grooming.  You have to do it almost every day so why not make the process as easy and pain-free as possible? No matter how many times you have shaved your face, you inevitably end up with a cut or rough patch here and there.

Here are some things you can do to make your shaving go smoothly…

Shave after the shower, not before.

The steam from your shower will help to open pores and soften skin, making it easier to achieve a clean shave.

Use conditioner or olive oil if you run out of shaving cream.

These make good substitutes because they are lubricating and moisturizing so avoid bar soap or shampoo because those can be drying.

Go with the grain.

As tempting as it can be, never go against the grain because it leads to skin irritation and sensitivity.

Too much foam?

Did you know shaving cream that foams excessively can be a sign of cheap ingredients? Choose a cream with moisturizing and lubricating ingredients.

Rinse with cold water.

This is another way to avoid skin irritation and close pores after you are done shaving.
